Guarneri String Quartet & Johannes String Quartet
In its 45th and final season, one of “the most revered and enduring ensembles of its kind in the world” [National Public Radio], the legendary Guarneri String Quartet, joins forces with fellow Marlboro Music Festival alumni, the Johannes String Quartet in a unique and thrilling program featuring new works by established composers and rising stars. One of today’s hottest young quartets, Johannes has been praised for their “accurate intonation, vigorous interaction … and the passion and attack that characterize the best of quartet playing” [Philadelphia Inquirer]. The program features three Los Angeles premieres, including an octet by William Bolcom and new quartets by Derek Bermel and the L.A. Philharmonic’s Esa-Pekka Salonen, as well as Mendelssohn’s Glorious Octet.
