Design for Sharing activities are open to all public schools in Los Angeles County. Below, you can find out how your students can participate.
Demonstration Performances
Demonstration Performances are grade appropriate, hour-long performances held on the UCLA Campus. Performers will share their work and talk about their background and creative processes. These special events feature artists from the UCLA Live season, allowing students to experience diverse art forms and interact with professional artists from around the world.
Demonstration Performance FAQ
How do I sign up?
It’s simple! Just check out our calendar of events, choose the performance you’d like to attend and fill out our
RSVP form. We’ll send you confirmation in writing and more details about your visit. Be sure to sign up early—reservations are first-come first-served!
How much does it cost?
Admission to all DFS activities is FREE! You are responsible for your own transportation to UCLA, and any substitute teacher arrangements.
My school doesn’t have funding for a bus. Can you help us?
DFS does subsidize bus transport for schools that cannot otherwise attend. Contact us for more information.
Can I bring parent chaperones?
Absolutely. Just be sure to include them in your head count when you fill out the
RSVP form—we’ll need to reserve enough seats for them.
How long is the program?
Demonstration Performances are generally about an hour (55-70 minutes), unless otherwise noted.
Can we stay on campus after the show?
Of course! We hope you’ll take this opportunity to explore UCLA and enjoy our campus.
What about lunch?
If you bring sack lunches, we will store them in the lobby during the performance. There is no dedicated picnic area, but you are welcome to picnic in any open space on campus. There are many grassy areas that are perfect for an outdoor lunch. We just ask that you are respectful of the classrooms and offices nearby. Older students may want to buy lunch at one of the many campus eateries. Be sure to allow plenty of time—lines can be long during the lunch rush.
How and when do I get the Educational Materials?
Education Packets will be available on this site in PDF format about 2 weeks before the event. Physical copies will be mailed to those who request them about 10 day before the event.
My Special World
Designed for our youngest audiences, these special workshops offer students in grades K-3 an opportunity to interact with artists in hands-on, participatory programs. My Special World programs are held in the Royce Hall Rehearsal Room, and attendance is limited to 150 students.
If you’d like to attend one of these events, send us an e-mail and let us know you’re interested, or fax in
this form. We’ll need to know the grade you teach and how many students you would like to send. We’ll contact you when we have an event that meets your needs.
